Newspapers Canada is pleased to announce that the inaugural Canadian Tire Jumpstart Awards will open next week on Wednesday, October 23. Staff writers at daily and non-daily newspapers are encouraged to enter the contest by submitting published articles that highlight how the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program is making a difference in their local community. Up to 12 winning submissions will be selected and each writer will be awarded a grant of $5,000 to donate to the Jumpstart chapter covered in his or her story.
Stories published between January 1, 2012 and October 22, 2013 will be eligible for the competition.
Newspapers Canada will assist writers by providing editorial resources—including information about Canadian Tire Jumpstart, its activities, and story leads—in the Jumpstart Resource Centre and through the CommunityWire distribution service.
