News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) has announced the list of finalists for the eighth annual National Pictures of the Year (NPOY) competition. The awards received submissions from 122 outstanding photojournalists across the country. More than 2,000 images from across Canada were entered in 14 different categories, including Canadian Photojournalist of the Year and Canadian Photograph of the Year. Nominees for photojournalist of the year are: National Post photojournalist Tyler Anderson; Mark Blinch of Reuters; Nathan Denette of The Canadian Press; Michelle Siu of the Independent; and Tim Smith of the Brandon Sun.
The winner will be announced during the NPAC’s National Pictures of the Year Gala event, which will take place on May 9 in Vancouver.
