In Ontario, Ian Proudfoot is retiring from his post as publisher for Metroland’s central division, which includes community papers stretching from Toronto to North Bay. He will continue on with the media company as a consultant for the next year. Proudfoot first started his newspaper career in 1978 as the assistant circulation manager at the Bradford Witness and York Regional Topic. He joined Metroland in 1984, signing on as the director of distribution at The Mississauga News, and has held a number of roles within the organization.
Current Metroland vice president Dana Robbins will be taking over the role. Robbins was previously the publisher at The Hamilton Spectator and Grand River Media in Waterloo.
