The submission deadline for the Michener Awards Foundation’s annual award and fellowship program is just around the corner. Canadian journalists have until Friday, February 19 to prepare their entries for the 2016 Michener Award, the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism, and the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education.
The Michener Award is given annually to a news organization that demonstrates outstanding and unbiased public service journalism. Entries are judged particularly for their professionalism, their impact on the public, and the degree of arms-length public benefit that is generated. Daily and weekly newspapers, news agencies, radio and television stations and networks and periodicals are eligible.
The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism encourages excellence in investigative journalism that serves the public interest through improvements in public policy, ethical standards, corporate governance or the lives of Canadians.
The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education is dedicated to the advancement of the education of Canadian journalists and students at a recognized Canadian school of journalism.
