Long-time newspaper publisher Roy Lind has died at age 73. Lind began his 32-year newspaper career in 1967 in the circulation department at a Vancouver daily. He later took on an advertising sales role at the Abbotsford News before joining the Chilliwack Progress first as a sales manager, then as its publisher in 1979.
In 1985 he became a group publisher for three publications: the Maple Ridge News, Coquitlam News and Sunday News. Under his leadership, the newspapers earned numerous regional and national awards. Lind retired in 1999.
