Star News Publishing, the owner of the Prince Albert Daily Herald, has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Herald’s employees for an employee buyout of the publication.
One of Saskatchewan’s oldest newspapers, the Daily Herald started out locally-owned and operated, and will now continue as an independent, locally owned and operated business.
“We’re the third-largest city in the province and I do believe print media is an important part of any community, because at the end of the day, besides the (millennials), lots of people don’t have computers,” said Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne.
“Lots of people don’t have iPhones — especially in the North — so they rely on all sorts of media to get the news out.”
