The panel tasked with reviewing Canada’s Broadcasting and Telecommunications Acts has released a summary report of all its submissions and meetings with industry stakeholders.
Titled ‘What We Heard‘, the report addresses key themes including telecommunications and content creation in the digital age, net neutrality, and how to strengthen the future of Canadian media and content creation.
In an interview, the federal heritage minister Pablo Rodriguez said web giants should be required to create Canadian content and promote it on their platforms.
The panel’s final report, with recommendations, will be issued by January 2020.
