Quebec government supports media recycling program

La Presse and the Montreal Gazette have reported that Quebec’s Ministry of Culture and Communications has allocated nearly $10 million to compensate newspapers for recycling costs.

Those funds will go to RecycleMédias to support print media. The assistance is required “in the current context where any additional pressure could harm the financial health of newspapers,” said Nathalie Roy, the minister in charge of the portfolio.

Last year, RecycleMédias received $8.4 million for the same purpose.
