Better Newspapers Competition (BNC) awards honour excellent work in Canada’s community newspapers and celebrate the vibrancy of community newspapers across Canada.
The Ontario Community Newspapers Association Better Newspapers Competition 2020 awards showcase the hard work, talent and dedication demonstrated by Ontario publishers, editors, reporters, photographers and designers.
Congratulations to the winners in the Best Vertical Product category, selected from 19 entries. “Many products in this category had great concepts, beautiful formats, and amazing ad design. Special products are a chance to stretch your design legs in editorial and need to be seized – if for no other reason than to keep up with the ad department.”
1st place: Orangeville Banner – Sideroads of Caledon Dufferin & King “A beautiful and clearly successful product.”
2nd place: Cornwall Seaway News – Taste Magazine 2019 “Absolutely gorgeous presentation (amazing cover).”
3rd place: Haliburton, The Highlander – Home in the Highlands “Very unique idea to partner the publication with local personalities! Very nice clean design – a magazine look on newsprint!”
