After four weeks of processing entries, and with a total of 317 newspapers competing for awards, nearly 3000 entries for the 2008 Better Newspapers Competition are about to be shipped out to judges. Entries poured into the Canadian Community Newspapers Association offices from across the country, from papers small and large, and anticipation is high for the awards results which will be announced on Monday, March 10.
For the second year the CCNA is also pleased to offer a subsidy to all first-place BNC winners in the Premier Award categories, and the Campus Division. Winners will be entitled to receive one nightÔÇÖs accommodation and a complimentary day pass for the 2008 annual conference, Ink & Beyond, which will be held at Toronto’s Westin Harbour Castle from May 7 – 9.
The pass gives the recipient full access to the professional development sessions and networking opportunities for the entire day on Friday, May 9, and includes the Better Newspapers Competition Awards banquet.
Visit the conference website at www.inkandbeyond.ca for program details and to download the registration form, and check back frequently for updates and the full list of BNC winners on March 10.
