APRIL 20, 2011 – The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has announced the results of their national strike vote. As expected, the union has received a strong strike mandate just as it has in past rounds of collective bargaining.
The strike vote does not mean that there will be a work stoppage at Canada Post. The union is not in a legal strike position and meetings between Canada Post and CUPW aimed at reaching a new collective agreement continue with the help of a conciliator. The earliest date that CUPW could go on strike is May 25.
