Torstar has entered into a five-year printing agreement with Transcontinental to print the Toronto Star. Transcontinental is currently responsible for printing a number of Canadian newspapers, including the Globe and Mail, Vancouver Sun and Montreal Gazette. “This move will allow us to focus our efforts increasingly on creating great content and engaging audiences across many platforms while at the same time reducing costs and improving the production quality of the newspaper,” said John Cruickshank, publisher of the Toronto Star and president of Star Media Group.
As a result of this new partnership, Torstar will be closing its printing plant in Vaughn. Delivery of the daily newspaper will continue under existing arrangements.
