More than 1,000 community newspapers across Canada circulate almost 20 million copies each week. The majority of community newspaper circulation is free (18.7 million copies) which accounts for 96% of all circulation. Community newspapers publish in both broadsheet and tabloid formats, although 88% of all editions are tabloids.
