It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Harve Friedel, who was longtime publisher of the Craik Weekly News, died July 30, in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 79.
Harve was born in Fairview, Alta., in 1937. He operated a paper in Lumby, B.C., for four years, before moving to Craik to take over the Weekly News in 1975. Harve kept the paper in operation till late 2014, when health challenges forced him to move into long-term care in Moose Jaw.
A memorial service was held Aug. 3 in Craik. Harve was cremated and his ashes will be spread at a later date. He is survived by two brothers and one sister.
