Daily and community newspapers and their staff members are invited to submit entries for the 2011 Michener Awards recognizing excellence in Canadian public service journalism.
Entries are judged particularly for their professionalism, their impact on the public and the degree of arms-length public benefit that is generated.
The final entry deadline for the 2011 Michener Award is Friday, February 24, 2012.
The Michener Foundation also invites Canadian journalists to apply for two fellowship opportunities, one for investigative journalism and one for education. The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism will be awarded to a mature journalist to complete a reporting project in the field of public policy. The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education will fund a journalist-in-residence for one semester at a Canadian university or college.
Applications close for both fellowships on Friday, February 24.
