A number of Canadian daily newspapers were among the award-winning media organizations recognized at the 2013 Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPA).
In the Green division—which encompasses all News Media including newspapers, television, radio and digital–The Globe and Mail led the pack of newspaper winners, earning four awards in total. The Globe picked up two gold awards for Best Cross-Platform initiative and their Globe2Go ePaper edition and took home silver awards in the Best Infographic and Best Online-Only Article categories.
The Toronto Star took received gold awards for Best Overall Companion Website and Best Blog and a silver award for Best Website Design. The Winnipeg Free Press took home three silver awards for Best Overall Companion Website, Best News Coverage and Best Video or Multimedia Feature.
Metro took was awarded silver in the Best Blog and Best Smartphone App categories. La Presse earned the gold award for Best News Coverage and National Post’s Gastropost received a gold award in the Best Use of Social Media category.
Award-winners in all three divsions were recognized at a special event held in Toronto on Wednesday, November 13.
