Freelance writer Zane Schwartz is the recipient of the 2016 Michelle Lang Fellowship in Journalism. Schwartz, a former staff reporter with Macleans, has written for numerous Canadian publications including the Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail.
He will spend the first six months working at the National Post in Toronto before spending the next six months of the Fellowship working at the Calgary Herald. He plans to pursue a project on the influence of money in Canadian politics and intends to investigate who the largest donors are and whether their contributions result in policy changes that favour them.
I am honoured to be this year’s Fellowship recipient and excited to join the award-winning journalists at Postmedia,” said Schwartz in a press release. “This Fellowship gives me the opportunity to do the kind of fearless reporting that Michelle Lang inspired in up and coming journalists.”
