In 2017 the total advertising spending from major reported media accounted for $13.6 billion, based on the annual Net Advertising Volumes report. Internet advertising continues to climb, placing it in the top ranked media position. In Canada the top three advertising media in 2017 are Internet ($6.8 billion), Television ($3.2 billion) and Newspapers ($1.8 billion).
Recent forecasts from Dentsu Aegis Network predict that Canada’s 2019 growth of +5.2% will outpace global ad spend forecast (+3.8%), fueled primarily by digital. Mobile is expected to see the greatest growth of all digital platforms in Canada.
Despite all the predictions of growth for digital and mobile platforms, they remain the least trusted of all ad formats based on 2018 Canadian research.
