News Media Canada president and CEO Paul Deegan recently appeared on the Editor & Publisher podcast to talk more about Google’s recent agreement to pay Canadian news organizations.
As announced in December, Google has agreed to pay Canadian news organizations $100-million per year, indexed to inflation. Deegan describes how this agreement will be a ‘game changer’ for Canadian publishers, particularly local news outlets.
In the interview, Deegan also explained several amendments News Media Canada pushed for designed to help small-market publications.
