Quebec newspaper Le Soleil has donated more than 500,000 photographs to be housed in Quebec City’s archives.
The photographs carry significant historical and cultural value. The plan is for these photos to be made available to the public via the city’s archives.
For Gilles Carignan, the executive director of the cooperative that owns le Soleil, this donation is important in order to ensure the sustainability of documents for the benefit of future generations.
“Le Soleil is a witness to history, and we wanted these photos to continue to be seen, in a more digital universe, to continue to tell the story of Quebec,” he said.
