  • After 40 years of covering sports in his hometown of St. Marys, and in Stratford, ON., reporter Pat Payton announced he would be retiring. You can read about his career accomplishments here.
  • Two-time Goff Penny Award winner Zane Schwartz launched the Investigative Journalism Foundation (IJF) last week. As a non-profit newsroom, the IJF is focused on public interest journalism. Read more about it here.
  • Former Cornwall Standard-Freeholder journalist Mark Van Dusen has published his first book, titled ‘How to Stitch a Chicken’. The book retells his experiences of fixing up an old farm house with his wife, where they raised their children. Read more about it here.
  • Ryan Dahlman announced on his LinkedIn page that he will be starting a new position as General Manager and Editorial Director of Sask. newspapers with the Alberta Newspaper Group LP. He will still be the managing editor of the Prairie Post which covers all of southern Alberta going to the B.C. border.
