Almost half of Canadian mobile users aged 18 to 34 own a smartphone according to a new report released by the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association.
The study reveals that approximately 58 percent of those smartphone users have downloaded apps to their mobile device, with roughly one-quarter of apps purchased as paid downloads. The study also shows a high level of interest in 2-D barcodes (QR codes), with 45 percent of mobile phone users being aware of them and 10 percent having scanned a barcode. When respondents were asked what they had recently scanned, product barcodes and barcodes in magazines, books and newspapers topped the list.
