Glacier Media Group’s Peter Kvarnstrom has been named the new chair of the Canadian Newspaper Association following the resignation of Natalie Larivière. Kvarnstrom is vice-president BC Newspaper Operations for Glacier Media Group and the publisher of the Coast Reporter in Sechelt. Kvarnstrom served as president of the Canadian Community Newspaper Association from 2004 to 2005 and has also served the industry as a director of ComBase and president of the BC & Yukon Community Newspaper Association.
Marc Ouellette has joined the CNA board of directors. Since 2006, Ouellette has served as senior vice-president, Newspaper Group, and manages all of Transcontinental’s newspapers, i.e. 11 dailies and over 100 weeklies in seven provinces. He has previously occupied key positions in many industry groups including Association de la presse francophone hors-Québec, the Association des Hebdos du Québec, Le Réseau Sélect, Le Conseil de Presse du Québec, ComBase and The Canadian Press.
