INK+BEYOND 2012: Meet the reporters covering the conference

As in previous years, editorial coverage for the INK+BEYOND national newspaper conference will be carried out by five journalism students from local universities. A series of photos and news articles covering speaker sessions, workshops, awards galas and other conference events will appear on the Newspapers Canada website, the INK+BEYOND live blog and in a special conference-themed edition of News on News on May 2.

Stephanie Chan
Stephanie currently studies journalism at Ryerson University. In the past, she has written for ACF Magazine, Openfile and other publications. Her work experience also includes a year volunteering behind the scenes at Rogers TV in Mississauga, and an internship reporting for The Standard, an English daily in Hong Kong.

 

 

Matt Dusenbury
Matt Dusenbury recently achieved his Masters degree in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario, and holds a B.A. in Media Studies from UWO as well as a post-graduate diploma in music from Fanshawe College. He has written for several publications, including The London Free Press and The Globe & Mail, and has worked with Canadian publications rabble.ca and thetyee.ca to produce some of the first digital works of long-form journalism in Canada, custom designed for Apple’s iPad.
 

Charlotte Harrison
Harrison recently completed her third year of a Combined Honours in journalism and French at the University of King’s College in Halifax. She was editor-in-chief of the school paper, The Watch, this past year, and she is currently interning with The New Quarterly in Waterloo (tnq.ca). She hopes to pursue a Masters in publishing.

 

 

 Samantha Lui
Lui is a journalism student at Ryerson University. While her interests lie in the field of entertainment, lifestyle and local news, she is always trying to broaden her horizons. Having written for campus papers The Ryersonian and The Ryerson Free Press, she continues to freelance and has had her work published in Exclaim! In her spare time, she enjoys blogging on her website http://samanthalui.wordpress.com.

 

Christian Pollard
Christian Pollard is a combined honours student at the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University, with a degree in Journalism and Sustainability. He hopes to use his journalistic experience to cover environmental and sustainability issues.
