In Alberta, long-time Western Wheel publisher Paul Rockley has retired after 26 years with the community newspaper. A third-generation newspaperman, Rockley worked in the publishing industry for more than 50 years. He purchased the Okotoks-based Western Wheel in 1989 and later sold it to Great West Newspapers in 2005. “The last 26 years have been some of the best years for sure, the community has been wonderful to work with, readers and advertisers alike,” he said. “I feel very fortunate to have been able to spend the amount of time I have here.”
Paul’s son Matt Rockley took over as publisher on June 16.
