Statistics Canada has released the 2014 Television Broadcasting data, reporting that advertising sales fell 0.8%, continuing the decline from 2011. Private conventional television reports an annual drop of 6.5% (worth $1.7 billion) and is the hardest hit sector, falling below the 50% share mark in the advertising sales market for the first time.
Recent technological changes, including new broadcasting platforms for television programming such as websites or mobile phones, have had a notable impact on the sector’s financial results.
