The Canadian Journalism Foundation is hosting a special journalism talk next month with John Stackhouse, the former editor-in-chief of The Globe and Mail and Craig Silverman, founding editor of BuzzFeed Canada. Stackhouse and Silverman will take the stage together at the TMX Broadcast Centre in Toronto on November 12, to discuss the future of journalism –the opportunities and the obstacles – from their distinct perspectives.
"The election campaigns in Canada and the U.S. are laying bare the need for independent, professional journalism," says Stackhouse. "Trouble is, the business model for that journalism has been shredded. Some brilliant new efforts are working, but are they enough to form a new fourth estate? And if not, what price will we all pay?"
The discussion is part of the CJF J-Talks series, exploring issues and challenges shaping journalism.
