EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TACKLES MASSIVE AGENDA

ComBase pricing, a new branding for the industry, postal increases, a national Young Community Builders program; these are just some of the important issues to be discussed at the next Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) Executive Committee meeting.

The meeting will be held on Oct. 19 in Miramichi, New Brunswick to coincide with the fall publishers meeting of the ACNA. While there, the CCNA executive will meet with Atlantic publishers and join in on discussions of various regional and national issues. The executive members, made up of Clark Pepper, president (SK), Jim Cumming, vice-president (ON), Joyce Webster, vice-president (AB), Lynn Hennigar, treasurer (NS) and Heather Dickson, secretary (QC), will concentrate on preparing the various issues for presentation to the national board of directors meeting scheduled for Nov. 16-17 in Ottawa.

“A year ago Sean Murray (then president) said that CCNA would exhibit a bias for action,ÔÇØ said CCNA Executive Director Serge Lavoie. ÔÇ£That promise has been fulfilled in spades and now the association finds itself managing a huge range of important and complex issues and initiatives. The executive and the board have their work cut out for them as they sort through priorities, costs and timetables. It’s an exciting time, but a little crazy.”

Members can access the minutes of all board and executive meetings through the CCNA web site at www.communitynews.ca. At the Quick Menu select Meeting Minutes. This will take you to a search feature that allows you to find minutes by type of meeting or date.
