News Media Canada has compiled seventeen shareable industry stats on the Canadian newspaper industry to highlight the power of print. In 2017 there are more than 1,100 newspapers in Canada that generated more than $2 billion in advertising revenue last year. Newspapers continue to be one of the most trusted media, reaching almost nine in Canadian adults each week across print and digital platforms, no different than five years ago. Millennials are just as likely as Boomers to be newspaper readers but each demographic chooses a different preferred platform; Boomers choose to read in print, while Millennials prefer to read on their phones.
