Dans certaines régions du Canada, les résidents n’ont pas accès à de l’information journalistique sur les questions et les institutions communautaires par l’entremise des journaux locaux, de la radio, de la télévision ou d’autres médias communautaires. Ces lacunes dans la couverture médiatique signifient que les citoyens ne disposent pas de l’information nécessaire sur les nouvelles, les questions et les événements qui les touchent personnellement dans leur vie quotidienne.
L’Initiative de journalisme local vise à changer cette situation.
