Sarah Holmes, the publisher and owner of the Gabriola Sounder, in Gabriola Island, B.C., has been named as one of the top 25 publishers under the age of 35 in North America by Editor & Publisher Magazine.
“Sarah is one of those people you meet in the industry who is in it because she loves newspapers,” says Kerry Slater of the British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspapers Association.
Indeed, Holmes comes from a long line of family involvement in the newspaper business. Her father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and both uncles owned newspapers. Both she and her father serve on our current board of governors.
You can read her entire profile in the magazine’s April 2017 edition (just be sure to toggle forward to page 52-53).
