The Chronicle Herald in Halifax, NS has collected over $10,000 in subscriber donations to put towards its burgeoning Newspapers in Education program.
Through the program, the daily newspaper will provide more than 2,500 print copies to school libraries, adult education groups and students from elementary, junior and high school classes.E-editions of the paper will also be made available to more than 13,500 students in grades 10, 11 and 12. "The daily newspaper can teach students about the latest issues in health, science and current affairs as they unfold — something textbooks just can’t deliver," said John Millett, manager of the Chronicle Herald’s NIE program.
