Males and highly educated individuals are more likely to consume news content on tablets and smartphone devices according to a new study from the Pew Project for Excellence in Journalism. The report, titled The Demographics of Mobile News, was released earlier this month and analyzes mobile news consumption habits across a variety of demographic groups.
The report found that men, especially those aged 18 to 29-years-old, check the news more frequently and are more likely to watch videos and read in-depth articles on a mobile device compared to women.
The survey also found that 58% of respondents prefer a traditional “print-like” reading experience when looking at the news on a mobile device while 41% favour high-tech features such as audio and video.
