JUNE 13, 2013 – Publishers using Canada Post’s Publications Mail service may have received a notice regarding the following changes that take effect on June 14, 2013. Canada Post is introducing the Letterflatainer (LFT) as a new presort mail container option for Publications Mail and a new label format featuring 2D barcodes.
New container option: Letterflatainer
Canada Post is introducing the Letterflatainer (LFT) as a new presort mail container option for Publications Mail. Publishers may use LFTs if they wish, but the LFT does not replace any other containers offered by Canada Post. Publishers can continue to use the containers that they have used previously.
2D barcode and new label format
Canada Post is introducing a new label format featuring 2D barcodes. This does not apply to publishers sorting their mailing using the NDG presort. The new 2D barcode and label format apply only to Publications Mail mailings sorted by LCP. Mailings sorted by NDG do not require the 2D barcode, and publishers do not need to purchase new software.
