The Canadian Journalism Foundation kicks off a new season of its J-Talk discussion series with a special presentation in Toronto on October 2 titled Native Advertising: Journalism’s Saviour or Sellout? Whatever you call it—native advertising, branded content or custom content—’advertorials’ are controversial, yet news organizations see them as the latest and best business strategy.
CJF tackles the financial opportunities and ethical challenges surrounding sponsored content at this upcoming panel discussion with speakers Scott White, vice-president of content strategy and business development at Postmedia Network, Jill Borra, executive editor at The Globe and Mail, and Cathrin Bradbury, newly appointed editor in chief for Metro English Canada. The talk will be moderated by Ivor Shapiro, chair of the School of Journalism and associate professor specializing in journalism ethics at Ryerson University.
