The most recent release from Vividata confirms again that Canadians are reading community newspapers. In markets that are under half a million in population, more than eight out of ten Canadians report reading their community newspaper in the past month. Furthermore, the majority of these readers (69%) are accessing their community newspaper content within the week.
Every week, more than 19 million community newspapers are distributed across Canada, providing hyper-local news to communities of all sizes. According to recent Newspapers Canada research, 95% of printed community newspaper readers report that their main reasons for reading are for local news/information (95%) and for advertising (67%).
