See you in Winnipeg

The Canadian Community Newspapers Association’s 88th national convention in Winnipeg promises to be one of the most exciting in the association’s history.

The event is being hosted by three associations: the CCNA, the Canadian Newspaper Association and the Canadian Circulation Management Association, and co-hosted by the Manitoba Community Newspapers Association.

The preliminary program has lots of opportunities for both work and entertainment in Winnipeg. The convention kicks off with an address by futurist Ian Morrison and continues with a panel of newspaper executives who will discuss the future of the industry. That night, the Winnipeg Free Press will host an opening extravaganza that will feature some of Winnipeg’s top talent.

Sessions for this year’s convention will offer delegates the choices between editorial, advertising, and circulation sessions. One of this year’s themes is the changing newsroom and how technology is changing how reporters do their jobs and how the public gets the news.

The convention hotel is the Delta Winnipeg and room rates start at $139 per night. To book your accommodation, call Delta’s Reservations Department at 1-888-311-4990. Callers must identify themselves as being with the Canadian Newspaper Association/Canadian Community Newspapers Association and call prior to Friday, April 6, 2007, in order to qualify for the group rate. An online reservation link will be available shortly.
