Americans turn to newspapers, both in print and online, more often for a wider range of information than any other news source, according to a new national study from the Pew Research Center. The study, titled “How People Learn About Their Local Community,” surveyed 2,000 American adults on their news consumption habits across 16 different topics. Respondents identified newspapers and their websites as their main source of news for 11 of the topics examined, including local government, arts and culture, taxes and crime reports.
Overall, the survey shows that 64% of American adults use at least three different types of media every week to get news and information about their local community.
