ComBase deadline changed to Dec. 31, 2002

There is still time to join ComBase.

ComBaseÔÇÖs Board of Directors has passed a motion allowing newspapers that have been a sustaining member of Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) or associate member of a regional association on or before Dec. 31, 2002 to join the readership research study.

Previously, in November, 2001, the CCNA Board agreed that in order to participate in the first year of the ComBase study, a publication must be a full or sustaining member of CCNA or associate member of a regional association and must have held that membership status on or before Dec. 31, 2001.

Thomson-Lightstone, the research company performing the study, has begun interviewing for what is the first national study of community newspapers in Canada. Interviews began in Newfoundland, British Columbia, Northwest Territories and the Yukon.

The remainder of the regions will begin within about two weeks.
