Campus newspapers invited to compete in BNC

The Canadian Community Newspapers Association, the national voice of the community press in Canada, is pleased to announce that it has introduced the Campus Division for its annual Better Newspapers Competition (BNC). Open to all post-secondary campus newspapers in Canada, the Campus Division will allow student operated newspapers from across the country to compete against each other and celebrate their achievements.

The categories announced for the Campus Division of the 2006 BNC are: Outstanding Campus Newspaper, Best News Story, Best Feature Story, and Best Photograph. The BNC Entry Book can be downloaded for the Campus Division from the CCNAÔÇÖs website at www.communitynews.ca/bncawards.

The top three finalists in each category will be announced in alphabetical order on the CCNA web site, www.communitynews.ca, on Friday, April 14, 2006, at 9:00 AM eastern time. Winners will then be announced during the 87th CCNA National Convention at an awards ceremony to be held on Saturday, May 27, 2006, in Quebec City.

Just remember, the entry deadline is Monday, January 31, 2005, and entries must be received at the CCNA office–8 Market St., Suite 300, Toronto, Ontario, M5E 1M6–postmarked or shipped prepaid prior to midnight on January 30. (C.O.D. packages will not be accepted.)
