CCNA announces 2008 conference venue

The Canadian Community Newspapers Association and its partner, the Canadian Newspaper Association, have confirmed the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto as the site of their 2008 joint conference.

Set for May 7 to 9, 2008, the 89th annual meeting of the CCNA will follow the format of the hugely successful 2007 conference in Winnipeg, also held jointly with CNA. Plans are already underway for a dynamic event that will offer all the information and resources that community newspaper publishers and executives need to more successfully manage their operations. A trade show, plenary sessions and breakouts geared toward small- and large-market newspapers will form the basis of the 2008 program. Over 400 delegates are expected to attend.

Rising 38 storeys above Lake Ontario, the Westin Harbour Castle is ideally situated along Toronto harbour and is within walking distance of many major attractions. Room rates at the Westin start at $215 per night, single or double occupancy, and will be available from two days prior to two days following the dates of the conference. Reservations may be made by calling Westin Hotels toll-free at 1-800-937-8461 or the Westin Harbour Castle directly at 416-869-1600. Be sure to mention the “CNA and CCNA conference” to access the conference rate.

An online reservations site will be available shortly. As well, conference information will be accessible at www.communitynews.ca/convention/2008/ as it becomes available.
