Serious, long-form journalism is more profitable online than pop-culture content, according to a new study from California-based research company, Perfect Market, Inc. The Summer 2010 Vault Index provides a ranking of the most valuable topics for news publishers based on advertising revenue per page view. Perfect Market tracked more than 15 millions news articles from over 20 U.S. newspaper sites to compile the list that includes “Unemployment Benefits” and “Gulf Oil Spill” among the top 10 most profitable news stories.
