Traditional newspaper outlets are throwing up paywalls, pouring resources into digital, and increasing the amount of sponsored content—all in an effort to find a sustainable business model for journalism. The question is: What’s working? On Thursday, January 23, The Canadian Journalism Foundation will bring together Canada’s top newspaper publishers in Toronto for an in-depth discussion on Turning Digital into Dollars.
Panellists include Phillip Crawley, publisher of The Globe and Mail; John Cruickshank, publisher of the Toronto Star; Gerry Nott, senior vice-president of the eastern region, Postmedia Network; and André Pratte, editorial pages editor of La Presse, talk revenue mixes and models in a shifting media landscape. The discussion will be moderated by Joshua Benton, founder and director of the Nieman Journalism Lab at Harvard University.
The talk will take place at the TMX Broadcast Centre in The Exchange Tower from 6:30PM to 9:00PM. General admission is $30.00 and a limited number of student tickets are available at $15.00.
