Visitors who go directly to news websites spend about three times as long there as those who arrive via search engine or social media according to a new research report released by the Pew Research Center. Readers who type in the news outlet’s specific URL address or have the page bookmarked spend a greater amount of time on the site, view more pages and return more frequently than those who are referred via a search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing) or social networking sites such as Facebook or Twitter.
