Newspaperman Boris Hrybinsky dies at 63

Longtime Winnipeg Free Press staffer Boris Hrybinsky died on August 28 at the age of 63. Early in his career, Hrybinsky worked at the Elliot Lake Standard, the Welland Tribune and the Sudbury Star before relocating to Manitoba to join the Winnipeg Free Press.

During his 13 years at the Free Press, he worked in various senior positions, including assistant editor, features editor, deputy city editor and entertainment editor.

Hrybinsky earned journalism awards from the Canadian Ethnic Journalists Writers Club and from the Government of Canada in 1996 for excellence in journalism.
