Newspapers in Canada include more than 1,100 titles which circulation more than 50 million copies each week.
Daily newspapers (98 titles) and community newspapers (1,032 titles) combined represented more than $2.1 billion in advertising revenue in 2016, across national, retail, classified categories as well as flyers and inserts.
In today’s connected world newspaper content is available in both printed and digital formats and this content is read by more than eight out of 10 adults, regardless of the platform. It is no surprise that local community newspapers are read primarily for their local content; nine in ten community newspaper readers are looking for local news and editorial as well as local entertainment, sports and events.
