In this edition of our Innovative Advertising Blog, Lynn Hennigar, publisher of Lighthouse Publishing in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, shares how the publication helped launch a successful holiday season for local businesses within the community.
We always strive to help local businesses in our community succeed. This year we launched a shopping event titled “12 hours of Christmas” to get the community excited about the season, shopping and the local stores.
We produced a special section in the paper with ads from local businesses highlighting their spectacular sales and offers and their extended hours on Friday, November 18th to kick off the Christmas season. Participants were encouraged to provide an impressive sale on key items or throughout their stores and to extend their hours to at least the 12 hour mark.
Our paper also participated in the event. We extended our office hours, in both our locations. We also put our newspaper on sale – offering an annual subscription for a reduced price plus the opportunity to give a new subscription to someone who hadn’t had a subscription in the last 6 months for free.
The event was a resounding success, and helped launch the season for our local businesses!
