Readers of the Saskatchewan’s Battlefords News-Optimist might have been surprised by news that appeared on the publication’s website on April 1, noting that the newspaper planned to suddenly change its name to the “Battlefords News-Pessimist”
“We take pride in the fact that we’re honest with readers, no matter what,” explained editor Becky Doig.
According to the publication “the name change took effect on April Fool’s Day, a day notorious for fake news stories running in the Battlefords News-Optimist like the one you’re reading now.”
