House of Commons unanimously adopts motion supporting journalists

The House of Commons adopted a motion, put forward yesterday after Question Period by MP Martin Drummond of the Bloc Quebecois, that reaffirms the important work journalists play in a democracy.

The text of the motion read: “That this house reaffirms the vital and essential role of journalists in a democracy and condemns the attempts to intimidate them over the past few days in their coverage of the events in Ottawa.”
