Gesca sells plants, buys printing

Gesca, which sold its 14 French-language community newspapers last year, has sold the printing operations of its French-language dailies to Transcontinental Corp.

Transcontinental, whose Transcontinental Weeklies group owns 62 community newspapers in Canada, signed a 15-year agreement with Gesca to handle the printing concerns of the Gesca dailies Le Soleil, Le Droit and Le Nouvelliste.

A separate contract will see the printing of GescaÔÇÖs daily La Presse move to a Transcontinental printing plant currently under construction.
